Former Little Brown Jug winner (2006) Mr Feelgood (Grinfromeartoear-Best Of Memories) will have to overcome a horror barrier draw in his next Down Under feature race.
Mr Feelgood is stud-bound in August, drew the outside post (post 12) for Friday night’s $A100,000 Group 1 Len Smith Mile at Menangle’s 1400m track near Sydney.
Mr Feelgood, who won the 2009 Inter Dominion final for brothers Tim and Anthony Butt, has since been transferred to leading Queensland horseman Luke McCarthy for the twilight of his racing career. “He’s only had the one run for me and won it really well in Brisbane, but this is a much harder test, especially now he’s drawn so wide,” McCarthy said. Favourite for the Len Smith will be Victoria’s best pacer Smoken Up (Tinted Cloud-Carnlough Bay), who ran third to Blacks A Fake in last month’s $A1 million Inter Dominion Grand Final at Menangle. “Smoken Up goes to another level at Menangle, I’m so glad the race is there,” trainer-driver Lance Justice said. “He’s raced there four times – all in Group 1 races – for a win and three fantastic placings.”
