Mr. Feelgood draws post 9 for ID final

March 01, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The field is set for the $1 million (Aus.) Inter Dominion championship, set for Sunday at the Tabcorp Menangle Park outside of Sydney, and Mr. Feelgood, the defending champion and 2006 Little Brown Jug winner, will be starting from post nine in the field of 10 on the seven-eighths mile oval.

The Inter Dominion championship will be contested at a distance of 2,300 meters. A field of 10 will all line up on the mobile starting gate for the race. The Australian legend Blacks A Fake, a big, beautiful, 9-year-old gelded son of Fake Left, will be seeking his fourth Inter Dominion championship. He drew well, post three.

Blacks A Fake raced first-over against the pacesetting Mr. Feelgood in the last Inter Dominion leg at the Newcastle track last Saturday night and got up in the homestretch to win, much to the delight of the crowd, who cheered "Come on Blackie" as he paced to the wire.

Natalie Rasmussen trains and drives Blacks A Fake and admitted at the press conference for the draw, held on Monday night at Harold Park in Sydney, that in December she wondered if her horse was ready to be retired. Instead his interest in training and racing returned in January and she readied him for the Inter Dominion.

Because of his years of racing and $3.7 million (Aus.) bankroll, Blacks A Fake is the sentimental favorite to win the Inter Dominion. His toughest competition is expected to be Washakie, who has tremendous gate speed and is expected to try to control the race.

Money King, the winner of last November's Miracle Mile at Harold Park, is also expected to be a strong contender after winning his Inter Dom division as well last Saturday at Newcastle. He's known as a horse who can carry his speed, and he races with a U.S. AdvantEdge sulky.

The complete field, with post positions, follows:

Post--Horse (Sire)
1--Washakie (Badlands Hanover)
2--Our Awesome Armbro (Armbro Operative)
3--Blacks A Fake (Fake Left)
4--Atomic Ark (Albert Albert)
5--Monkey King (Sands A Flyin)
6--Baileys Dream (Dream Away)
7--Changeover (In The Pocket)
8--Bondy (Live Or Die)
9--Mr. Feelgood (Grinfromeartoear)
10--Smoken Up (Tinted Cloud)
