The New York Racing and Wagering Board (NYRWB) has offered to arbitrate the contract dispute between Monticello Raceway officials and horsemen, according to a story in today's Middletown (NY) Times Herald-Record.



The NYRWB is leaving its offer on the table until noon today (Wednesday, Feb. 15). According to the Times Herald-Record, the horsemen have said they are for it, while track management said yesterday that the offer is still being considered.



"This is a reasonable solution," Joe Faraldo, the horsemen's attorney told the Times Herald-Record. "We'll both lose some things through arbitration, but that's what a negotiation is."



Since the dispute began two years ago, the NYRWB has issued dates only on a monthly basis. The current license runs through tomorrow, when the NYRWB meets to discuss the track's application for more race dates.
