Mr Muscleman to qualify

Return Home
April 11, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Mr Muscleman, the richest Standardbred racehorse in training and the 2005 Trotter of the Year, is set to make his 2007 debut in Friday morning's qualifying races at the Meadowlands. The 7-year-old trotter, who has a career bankroll of $3.3 million, will race in the morning's ninth qualifier for trainer Noel Daley and owners Adam Victor Jr. and Sr.

"He seems real good right now," Daley said. "He qualified in Florida two weeks ago and came out of that race in good shape. He's probably as sound now as he's ever been, no problem with his suspensory [which cut short his 2005 season]. Last year, it was his knee that concerned me."

Daley and the Victors are hoping for the opportunity to take Mr. Muscleman overseas next month to compete in Sweden's famed Elitlopp at Solvalla Racecourse.

"We're hoping to go, to get an invitation," Daley said. "Some officials from Sweden are coming here this weekend. Adam Victor wants to go, and if we don't go this year, when will we ever get a better chance? Who knows when this kind of opportunity will come around again?

"If he goes, he'll miss some of the stakes here," he continued. "We knew that. The decision on whether he goes or not will eventually be up to me. They [officials from Sweden] want to see him racing and to see how he does, but I'll make the final call as to whether he's ready for that type of competition he'd face over there."
