Mr. Muscleman wins Open

Mr Muscleman coasted to a 1 1/2-length victory over Hellava Hush and driver Cat Manzi in the $42,500 Open Trot Friday night at the Meadowlands. The 2004 Older Trotter of the Year, Mr Muscleman covered the mile in 1:53.2, only one-fifth of a second off of his lifetime best. Ten-year-old Fool's Goal, with John Campbell driving, was third by 1 3/4 lengths. The 4-year-old mare Mystical Sunshine was fourth in the field of seven.



Driven by Ron Pierce and trained by Noel Daley, Mr. Muscleman picked up his second win in three starts this year. It was his first race in nearly three weeks and his first since Solvolla Racetrack in Stockholm, Sweden, withdrew its invitation to Mr. Muscleman to race in next month Elitlopp, fearing negative press as a result of the recent suspension of Daley. The 5-year-old gelded son of Muscles Yankee, who raced for the second straight time without the benefit of an anti-bleeding medication, lifted his career bankroll to $1,971,237 for Adam Victor & Son Stable LLC.
