Driver Ron Pierce moved Mr Nice Guy into the lead at the :54.4 half and from there the 3-year-old Western Ideal gelding was in complete control, capturing the $16,000 second leg of the Matt’s Scooter Series at the Meadowlands Friday night in a career-best 1:52.1. In only his second lifetime victory in 19 starts and first this year in seven starts, Mr. Nice Guy paced a :28.1 final quarter and won by six lengths over last week’s first-leg winner Mercantileexchange. Harley D. Hanover was third. Nat Varty trains the gelding for owner the Between The Pipes Stable.
