Muscle Hill, on the verge of setting a new single-season earnings mark, drew post one for Saturday’s $600,000 Breeders Crown final for 3-year-old colt trotters at Woodbine at a press conference held Tuesday afternoon at the racetrack. The son of Muscles Yankee comes into the race riding a 19-race win streak, including a perfect 11-for-11 record in 2009.
Muscle Hill has earned $2,156,041 this year, and the $300,000 winner’s check would send the total well past Donato Hanover’s trotting record of $2,336,190 and just past Somebeachsomewhere’s pacing record of $2,448,003. Muscle Hill was installed the overwhelming 1-5 morning-line choice with Brian Sears driving.
Well Said and Vintage Master, who received byes directly into the $600,000 Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Colt Pace, drew posts nine and 10, respectively. Well Said was made the 8-5 favorite in the race with Ron Pierce driving.
Well Said, who won last year’s Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Colt Pace, has won 10 times in 13 starts this year, including the Meadowlands Pace, North America Cup and Little Brown Jug. Vintage Master’s biggest win this year came in the Cane Pace.
