Last year the debut of the first crop by pacing sire Somebeachsomewhere gave the opening session of the Lexington Selected Sale a boost when 18 yearlings were sold, generating an average price of $114,278 and representing about 23 percent of the gross. This year the first crop by trotting sire Muscle Hill did the same as 16 of his offspring brought an average of $125,625. The gross sales for Muscle Hill yearlings was 24.2 percent of the gross.
In addition to Muscle Hill, the trotting sire Cantab Hall enjoyed an average of $123,000 for five yearlings sold. In the pacing sector, Rocknroll Hanover's 10 yearlings offered brought an average price of $112,900; Art Major's five yearlings averaged $103,400; six yearlings from the first crop of Well Said brought an average of $91,167; and 10 offspring by Somebeachsomewhere were sold for an average of $81,600.
The Lexington Selected Sale gets underway with its second session on Wednesday night at 7 pm.
