Muscleman romps in qualifier

April 13, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Three-time millionaire Mr. Muscleman won a qualifier at the Meadowlands Friday morning, with the 2005 Trotter of the Year romping to a 9 1/2-length decision over runner-up Limbo Glide in 1:55.1 for driver Ron Pierce. The effort followed up a winning qualifier at Spring Garden Ranch in Florida March 27, and served as a final tune-up before the Father Foley Series opener April 21 at the Big M.

Trainer Noel Daley has also said he is hoping the 7-year-old Mr. Muscleman receives an invitation from Swedish officials to race in the Elitlopp May 27. Daley told harnessracing.com earlier he and owner Adam Victor are expecting to meet with Solvalla racetrack officials sometime in the next week. Victor's son, Adam Jr., who attends Wharton Business School, is currently studying a semester in South Africa.

Also winning a qualifier was the Daley-trained 3-year-old pacer Cue The Paige, who scored by four lengths in 1:55.3 for driver Brian Sears. Cue The Paige is a son of Real Desire out of 1996 Jugette winner Paige Nicole Q.

Illinois star 3-year-old pacer Glass Pack, who was recently purchased by R. Peter Heffering and Jerry Silva, won his qualifier by 3 1/2 lengths in 1:56 for driver David Miller. Glass Pack was a seven-time winner last year at two, including a career-best 1:50.4 at Springfield, Ill.
