The European Championship for 3 year olds was held on the big Grand Circuit card at the Solvalla track in Stockholm Wednesday night, and among the winners was a colt by Muscles Yankee.
Although sired by Muscles Yankee, the winner is the Norwegian-bred Muscles Wiking BR. He posted his seventh win in nine start with his 1:59.2 mile-rate score over 2,140 meters.
Muscles Wiking BR is trained by Olle Goop, who was very optimistic about his chances going into the race, and was proven 100 percent correct. Muscles Wiking BR was really flying to the lead for Bjorn Goop and never was seriously challenged.
Muscles Wiking BR was bred by Bjørn Rishaug and is the first offspring out of Sappho Blue Chip (Credit Winner-Pretzel Hanover, by Lindy Lane).
The German-bred Velten Couture (Diamnond Way-Tabora, by Pine Chip) enjoyed a trip in the two hole to finish second for Heinz Wewering with Noak LB Cantab Hall-Electa LB) third.
