Muscles Yankee masterpiece sells famously

November 06, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The inaugural painting of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s (SRF) “Harness Horse Masterpiece Collection” sold at the Harrisburg Sale to a tremendous fan of Muscles Yankee, Bill Perretti. “It is touching to know that those whose lives have been touched by this great stallion were so generous when bidding for his artwork,” expressed Paula Campbell, SRF’s President. Among those bidding were a few folks who know the stallion well, Bill Weaver, Bill Perretti, and Frank Antonacci, and when the hammer fell it fell generously at $12,000.

“We are grateful not only for the idea but for the efforts of Lella Montgomery, and Ellen Manzi who spearheaded this new fund raiser for SRF,  explained Judy Bokman, an SRF trustee.  We started with the idea of a simple watercolor and it became a Picasso of sorts. I brought every possible medium for Muscles to create with to the farm. The location itself was inspiring and then you engage yourself with a majestic animal like Muscles, what else could come of that other than a “Michelangelo”. We are so grateful to Bill and Anthony Perretti for theirgenerosity and special friendship, and are pleased to have the inaugural piece back at home with this great stallion who has so many talents.”
