Undefeated Snow White, apparently cruising to an open-lengths victory in the $485,550 Merrie Annabelle Thursday night at the Meadowlands, went on a break in mid-stretch, handing over the lead and the victory to Muscovite and Mike Lachance in 1:57. Snow White finished third behind second place Pinery. Lachance swept Muscovite into the lead after the :27.3 opening quarter and midway down the backstretch John Campbell sent Snow White first-over, reaching the front just after passing the half in :56. The winner of five straight races immediately began to pull away from the field and passed the three-quarter station in 1:25.3. As Snow White trotted down the lane, increasing her lead with every stride, she suddenly went off stride. The win was the first of the year in five attempts for Muscovite, a daughter of Muscles Yankee trained by Ron Gurfein for Toss Out LLC (Maurizio Biasuzzi).
