My Heart Was True captured the $10,000 elimination of the Maywood Filly Pace last Friday night and now heads up an eight-horse field that includes Native Hostpur and Honey B Skipalong—both who received byes in the $100,000 final this Friday.

“This filly is a dream to drive,” said My Heart Was Truey's reinsman Brandon Simpson. “You can drive her anyway you want, and she’s just very easy to maneuver around the racetrack.”

The daughter of Cole Muffler-Would I Lie-Big Towner stopped the timer in a career-best 1:54.4 for Simpson and trainer Nick Gilbertson. The sophomore filly was purchased as a 2 year old last fall at Harrisburg by owners L&L Devisser of Michigan and now has $37,889 in career earnings, with a 5-2-1 record in 12 career starts.

“Nick (trainer Gilbertson) was very positive when this filly was training down, and has been pointing her for this race,” Simpson explained. “She really grew up a lot over the winter. I drove her last year right after they bought her, and they thought she was going to be short in that race, but she raced huge, and I knew she was a sharp filly then. She’s much taller and longer now.”

My Heart Was True hails from a powerful family, with full siblings in: Honest Lawyer p, 8, 1:51.4f  ($497,814); Chevie Silverado p, 4, 1:52.3 ($336,241); I Believe Its True p, 5, 1:52.2f ($153,736); Grand Junction Co p,3, 1:52.3f ($58,169); This Much Is True p,3, 1:52.1 ($48,082); and half siblings in: Political Promise by Jate Lobell)  p, 2, 1:55 ($33,765) and Cody Stallion (by Silky Stallone) p,5, 1:51.2  ($251,586).

Also gaining spots in the final were Honey’s Luck, Kiss My Josie and Park Lane Rhythm.
