Brandon Simpson was in the bike as the son of Armbro Tropicana sat a pocket trip behind Halls Of Gold to the head of the stretch and then brushed into the lead, scoring his fifth victory of the year in seven starts.

In other Colt Stakes action at Springfield Friday Spread The Chips (Band's Gold Chip) equaled the national season’s record of 1:55.4 in capturing her elimination division for 2-year-old trotting fillies and She’s So Hot (Richess Hanover) lowered her own national season’s record to 1:52.3 in capturing her elimination of the 2-year-old filly pace.
Friday marked the first day of racing at the Illinois State Fair. Eliminations Friday and Saturday will set the fields for the Colt Stakes finals next Wednesday and Thursday. Grand Circuit racing, featuring the Review Stakes, will be held Monday and Tuesday.
