David Palmer won the National Harness Handicapping Contest at the Meadowlands Saturday night, taking home the top prize of $50,000, while The Horseman And Fair World magazine's Gordon Waterstone was third in the competition at one point and poised for a top-three finish in the field of 85 but ended 12th when his pick in the last race, Kennan's Josh, was nosed out at the wire.
Palmer, of San Diego, Calif., finished with a bankroll of $1,692.40. Carol O'Brien took second in the competition with a bankroll of $1,316 while Herb Dicker was third with $1,117.
