Harness Tracks of America has received a late trio of rarities for its art auction on Kentucky Futurity morning, Saturday, Oct. 6. A Florida consignor has consigned three original watercolors by Robert L. Dickey, the foremost equine artist of the early 1900s.
The watercolors were painted by Dickey in 1906. They may have been painted for M.W. Savage since t hey are representations of three Savage champions: the world trotting champion Cresceus; the black trotting stallion Directum; and an historic scene of the chestnut Cresceus and immortal Dan Patch working side-by-side.
They are being sold as number 77-A, 77-B and 77-C in the HTA art auction, and can be seen by clicking here.
