James (Jim) Beviglia has been named track announcer at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, it was announced by Dale Rapson, vice president of racing, and James Wise, vice president of marketing. Beviglia was hired by Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in 2006 as a publicity assistant and served in that capacity the past two years in addition to being a co-host for the racetrack’s live television show. “Jim has an outstanding voice, is enjoyable to listen to and has an extensive knowledge of harness racing,” said Wise. “We believe our live racing fans and simulcast audience will enjoy listening to his clear and upbeat race call.” Prior to 2006, Beviglia was employed by Teleview Racing Patrol, where in 1997 he began his career at the Northeastern Pennsylvania harness racing track. Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will open its 2008 harness racing season Tuesday afternoon, April 1, with a 2 p.m. post time. Live harness racing days will be Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
