New Big M purse structure

The Meadowlands will offer two significant changes beginning with the draw for the Thursday, April 12, program: an across-the-board purse increase and a bonus program for New Jersey-sired horses.

"We have been working with the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey to entice the entry of New Jersey-sired horses at the Meadowlands," said Meadowlands Director of Standardbred Racing Tad Stockman. "We are excited to put this program forward, along with a purse increase, and will continue to offer a strong purse structure for our horsemen and owners."

The state-bred incentive program allocates a 20 percent bonus to all New Jersey-sired horses earning purse checks in "non-restrictive" overnight races. The 20 percent bonus will not apply to stakes races, finals of late or early closers or races restricted to New Jersey-owned or sired that already carry a 25 percent New Jersey Owned/Sired [NJOS] bonus.
