New format for Goshen matinee races

In an effort to support harness racing enthusiasts, and to allow for greater participation in 2-year-old events, the Board of Directors of Goshen Historic Track has shifted the 49th Annual Matinee Races to the first three Sundays in June (6, 13 & 20).

“The decision was made to help accommodate trainers who traditionally go to The Meadowlands baby races on Saturdays” noted GHT Vice-President Steve Jones.  “The board felt that we might pick up some additional entries by giving local owners and trainers the chance to race at both venues.”

In addition, the $25.00 entry fee has been eliminated for the Matinee season.  Long-time board President Bernie White added, “We want people to come to Goshen to race and have fun.  The board waived the entry fee to help young people and encourage them to ship their horses to race at Historic Track.”

The track is home to nearly 100 horses who stable on the grounds, many of which are from the Ray Schnittker stable.  On almost any given day it is not uncommon to see Ray and his army of assistant trainers going sets of six.  Perhaps some of the individuals listed below will be making their debut at The World’s Oldest Harness Track.
