Voelz Hanover set a new world record for 2-year-old filly pacers on a five-eighths mile track Thursday night at Hiawatha Horse Park, capturing the $130,000(C) Ontario Sire Stakes Gold final with a 1:51.3 effort for trainer-driver Rick Zeron. The time lowered the previous mark set last month at Harrah’s Zeron moved Voelz Hanover, a daughter of Astreos, the to the lead shortly after the opening :27.3 quarter set by Shake That Junk and driver Jody Jamieson.
