Mike Newlin, general manager of the Meadowlands Racetrack, has resigned his position and accepted a general manager position at Penn National Gaming's Sanford Greyhound track near Orlando.
The Meadowlands has launched a search for a new general manager.
"I wish Mike well in his new position," said Meadowlands managing partner Jeff Gural. "Under his leadership, we accomplished many important milestones including a successful live meet, opening the Bayonne Off-Track Wagering facility and beginning the construction of the new Meadowlands Racetrack. He has set a firm foundation of customer service expectations for our employees and created many great customer relationships."
Newlin commented, "While the Meadowlands transition was a challenge, it is very rewarding to look back and see what we accomplished in just one year. Our live meet was up over 6% in attendance and up 8% in live on track handle. It has been an honor to be entrusted with the Meadowlands legacy, but I have been interested in joining the Penn National organization for a long time. The opportunity presented itself and I want to continue to expand my professional experiences. I want to thank Jeff Gural for giving me the chance to run one of the premier racetracks in North America. I wish Jeff and the New Meadowlands team the very best in the future.” Rob Fitzpatrick (CFO) will act as interim General Manager of the Meadowlands. (Meadowlands)
