There will be a new series for Pennsylvania-sired 2 year olds, and events will be scheduled the day before a Sire Stakes race at a given track in order to provide another option for racing youngsters.
Named the Stallion Series, money for the program will come from the horsemen's purse pools in the state (via the Pennsylvania Harness Horsemen's Association and Meadows Standardbred Owners Association) and funds previously allocated for stallion awards.
There will be four preliminary legs and a $40,000 championship for each of the four divisions of 2 year olds. The Stallion Series races will be held the racing day before a Sire Stakes race at a given track.
There are no additional sustaining fees to this series. As long as one has made March 15 and May 15 Sire Stakes payments, the horse is eligible to the Stallion Series. There is a $200 starting fee for each Stallion Series leg, added to the preliminary purse.
