Indianapolis-based Centaur Holdings LLC announced Friday the appointment of Brian Elmore to the position of vice president of racing, effective immediately. Elmore will oversee horse racing operations at Centaur's two properties, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson, Ind. and Indiana Grand Casino and Downs in Shelbyville, Ind. and direct each property's general manager of racing.
In his previous position as Hoosier Park Racing & Casino's vice president and general manager of racing, Elmore was instrumental in positioning Hoosier Park as a premier horse racing destination and Indiana's first fully integrated gaming and horse racing facility. Elmore brings with him more than thirty years of horse racing experience, of which nearly 15 were directly with Hoosier Park.
"I've spent half of my horse racing career working with the talented and dedicated team members at Hoosier Park to create one of the nation's premier racetrack and casino properties,” said Elmore. "Now, in my new role, I look forward to learning from another set of equally dedicated and hard working team members at Indiana Grand Casino and Downs. Together we will build on past successful traditions while striving to exceed guest expectations and bring even more entertainment to Indiana horse racing.”
Prior to joining Hoosier Park and Centaur, Elmore served as general manager of Ellis Park in Henderson, Ky. and Bandera Downs in Bandera, Texas. Elmore has also served as a member of the Thoroughbred Racing Association, director of Harness Tracks of America and held multiple community board memberships throughout his career.
Centaur president and chief operating officer, Jim Brown stated, "Brian brings an unmatched combination of Indiana horse racing knowledge and experience to Centaur. His dedication to growing the sport of Indiana horse racing will serve him well in this new role.”
Also, Rick Moore has been appointed to the position of general manager of racing, effective immediately. Moore will report directly to Centaur's new vice president of racing,
"I am looking forward to working alongside the Hoosier Park Racing & Casino team as we continue to grow the Indiana horse racing fan base,” said Moore. "Both new and loyal racing fans can continue to expect the best in racing with a focus on family-friendly fun and entertainment.”
Moore, an integral member of Hoosier Park's opening team in 1994, oversaw racing operations and expansions for nearly 14 years before taking a management position with MainSource Bank in Anderson, Ind. Under his Hoosier Park tenure, Moore led the creation and expansion of three off-track betting facilities, the addition of dual breed horse racing, and introduced multiple premier signature racing events.
"Rick's efforts built the foundation on which Hoosier Park horse racing sits today,” said Brian Elmore, Centaur's vice president of racing. "His knowledge of the history of Hoosier Park horse racing and years of experience in the industry will be a tremendous asset to our team.” (Centaur)
