Yonkers Raceway has announced a new series--the Blue Chip Matchmaker--a $750,000 (estimated) free-for-all event for pacing mares, with a twist, that being free breedings to Bettor's Delight, Art Major and American Ideal. The series is a companion event to the popular George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series. The Blue Chip Matchmaker offers five preliminary legs, scheduled for consecutive Fridays beginning March 27. Each prelim race goes for $40,000. A $125,000 (est.) final and $75,000 (est.) consolation are both scheduled for Saturday night, May 2.
As an extra perk, the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series offers three free breedings for the 2010 season--one each to Bettor's Delight, Art Major and American Ideal--donated by Blue Chip Farms. The winner of the final has first choice of stallions, the second-place finisher has the choice of the two remaining stallions, with third-place getting a breeding to remaining stallion. Please note that any dead-heats with regards to the breedings shall be decided by lot, and Blue Chip Farms has the right of approval of the mares being bred.
Nomination (deadline is March 1) forms are available at www.yonkersraceway.com, the nightly racing program and various trade publications. For further information about the Blue Chip Matchmaker, or any other Yonkers' stakes event, please contact the race office at (914) 457-2627. (Yonkers Raceway)
