August 11, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Platinum Hanover took the first division of the Adioo Volo Saturday afternoon at The Meadows in a stakes and track record of 1:51.3.

Leading every step of the way with driver Andy Miller, Platinum Hanover took the field to a :27 first quarter.  The field stacked up to a :56.3 half and stayed single file until Vaudeville Margie and Tim Tetrick pulled going to the three-quarters in 1:24.3.  Trained by Chris Ryder for owner Brittany Farms, Platinum Hanover now has over $160,000 in career earnings after not starting as a two-year-old.

Betting Machine and trainer George Teague took the second division in 1:53, a new lifetime mark for the Bettor’s Delight filly.  Getting away fourth to a :27 first quarter, driver Dave Palone pulled Betting Machine at the half with eventual third place finisher Caviart Cameron sitting right behind her.  With a 1:24.2 third quarter, and odds of 4-5, Betting Machine won for owners Only Money Inc. and Teague, Inc.

Before the start of the third division, there was a recall when eventual race winner Western Graduate got into Arts a Flutter before “go”.  But with a smooth start the second time, Western Graduate left in between Elusive Prey & Artcotic and took the field to an opening quarter of :27 after which Artcotic and Tim Tetrick took over to a :55.2 half.

Western Graduate took to the “lightning lane” to win in 1:53.1 by a tight length for driver Dave Palone and trainer Mickey Burke.  Artcotic held on for second with Get A Cab and David Miller picking up third.  Western Graduate (Western Hanover) a World Champion at two, is owned by Sylvia Burke, Thomas Cherichello, George Leon and Lawrence Karr.

With less than a length covering the first three finishers, Career Artist took the fourth and final division of the Adioo Volo in 1:53.  Western Montana took the field to a :27.1 first quarter with Mystical Dreamer just outside her.  Career Artist and George Brennan took the lead before the :55.3 half.  Fiery Buckeye fired to the front before the third quarter in 1:24.  Travis Alexander trains the Artsplace filly for Arlene & Jules Siegel.
