New takeout at Maywood

Return Home
March 01, 2006 | Print View

Maywood Park has instituted its own "March Madness." A number of significant changes have been made concerning some of track's exotic wagers starting with the Thursday, March 2 card--the track's 60th consecutive season of harness racing in Chicago.

The Pick Three takeout has been reduced to 15 percent, making it the lowest of any Illinois racetrack. The Pick Three also has been moved to later races. It will be conducted on races 9, 10 and 11 on Thursday nights and races 10, 11 and 12 on Friday evenings.

Two Pick Four wagers have been carded on live racing programs instead of a single Pick Four in the past. The first Pick Four will start on race three, with the second beginning race seven on both Thursday and Friday programs.

All carryovers on Superfectas and Pick Fours wagers now have Consolation payoffs of 10 percent of that net pool, increasing the carryover to 90 percent. Previously 25 percent was distributed on consolation payouts while 75 percent of the net pool was the carryover.

"The 90 percent carryovers will give a bigger boost to the pools for the next Pick Four or Superfecta wager so there will be a greater amount of money to be distributed, rewarding those players who do pick all four numbers correctly," said Maywood Park General Manager Ken Kiehn.
