New USTA exec ok'd

The board of directors of the U.S. Trotting Association convened their annual meeting in Columbus Saturday and in the opening general session approved Eric Sharbaugh as the association's new executive vice president. Sharbaugh replaces Fred J. Noe, who retires effective March 31.



Sharbaugh, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., has been working as an executive in information technology and also hails from a harness racing family. His father is the late Richard Sharbaugh, who served as a racing publicist, horsemen's association executive, and as executive director of the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission.



The USTA is scheduled to hold two more full board sessions as well as various committee meetings to deal with rule change proposals and other issues.
