Instead of lamenting the challenges facing harness racing, in this week's Wire To Wire Andrew Cohen suggests that one way for the sport to be seen--and distinguish itself--is to begin producing broadcasts of races in HD--high definition.

"Here is a no-brainer for the industry," Cohen writes. "Harness racing tracks—and the folks who bring us their satellite signals—ought to commit to providing High-Definition signals by the end of 2009. No hedging. Get it done. Watching harness racing in HD can instantly distinguish this sport from many of its competitors, including thoroughbreds. If you have an HD television, or if you have ever seen sports on HD, you know exactly what I am about to say: the picture is breathtaking to behold."
