Rose Run Jeriah smashed the world record record for 2-year-old trotting colts Monday afternoon with a 1:57.2 victory in the first division of the $71,556 Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware, Ohio County Fair.

The Corleone colt, driven by Chip Noble, led from gate to wire to lower Royal Troubadour's world standard of 1:58.1 set in 1989 over the Delaware track. The victory was Rose Run Jeriah's eighth in 10 career starts and increased his earnings to $77,048.

Born To Bea Master was second by four lengths with Zippen Chip third. The winner is trained by Ron Randall for Ronald Dale and Linda Randall of Berlin Center, Ohio.

Sand Wyndham won the second OBC division with a big move at the top of the stretch and was helped when early leader Aly Spur jumped offstride at the top of the stretch. The Pegasus Spur colt, trained and driven by Tye Loy, won in 2:00.3 by four lengths over Looking To Score with Cor-Lee's Rebel third.

Sand Wyndham picked up only his second victory and increased his earnings to $31,486 for owner Bill Sanders of Stevenson, Ala.

Merited Victory set a national season's record for 2-year-old geldings of 1:59 with his victory in the third OBC division. The Victory Sam gelding charged to the lead at the op of the stretch and opened up a 4 3/4 length advantage over runnerup One Awesome Master at the finish. Sunland Dakota finished third.

Steve Carter picked up his seventh win of the season and increased his bankroll to $56,703. Steve Carter trains and drives Merited Victory for owners Peggy Carter of Londonderry, Ohio, Jacob Beard of Mansfield, Ohio, Sheila Hummel of Mansfield, Ohio, and Robert Reid, also of Mansfield, Ohio.

Queen Of Lavec and Greg Grismore gained some revenge on Carly's Crown (Chris Page) by capturing the third division of the $72,756 Ohio Breeder's Championship for freshman filly trotters.

Grismore sent the eventual winner after the early lead forcing the Ohio Sire Stakes champion Carly's Crown into the two hole. Queen Of Lavec set the fractions of :30.1 and 1:00.4. As the field approached the three-quarter mile station in 1:31.3, Carly's Crown was sent to the outside forcing Hooray For Melody (Sam Noble III) three wide. Queen Of Lavec used a :29.1 final panel to put away Carly's Crown by a length in 2:00.4.

The daughter of Master Lavec is trained by Mickey Burke for owners Howard Taylor, Judith Taylor, Edwin Gold and Abraham Basen.

In the second division, French Chip (Sam Noble III) scored an upset victory over Ice Fortune K (Mike Wilder) in 2:02.

French Chip and Ice Fortune K sat in the middle of the pack as the pacesetting R U Watching (Jim Dailey) and Norma's Rose (Aaron Merriman) battled for the lead. French Chip sprinted past the leader in midstretch and held off Ice Fortune K by a head. French Chip, who paid $58.40 to win, is owned by Donald Breeze and Patrick Sibler.

It was an emotional winner's circle after the first $24,252 division went to She's Not Red (Ray Paver) in 2:01.4. She's Not Red scored for the fifth time in just eight seasonal starts for Ron Anderson, trainer Scott Mogan and William Johnson II. Mogan took over the training duties after the death of Ohio Hall of Famer Terry Holton earlier this spring.

Flawless Chip (Don McKirgan) and Tally Ho Chip completed the trifecta. (LBJ)
