Margaret "Margie" Vance, 79, the wife of Paul Vance, has died. Margie was the matriarch of the family and its nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Margie loved attending the horsemen's year-end celebrations during the heyday of Roosevelt Raceway, which included the years when the family campaigned such notables as Secret Service p,4, T1:53.2 ($454,179).
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, trainer Joe Vance and his siblings Paula and Connie.
A wake for Mrs. Vance will be held Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Vernon Wagner Funeral Home at 125 W Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. Burial will be at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
