NHHC deadline looming

April 18, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The deadline for the 2006 North America Harness Handicapping Contest—and its first-place prize package that includes $50,000--at the Meadowlands Saturday night, April 22, is approaching fast. Players who wish to ante up the $1,000 ($600 entry fee plus $400 bankroll) have until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, to participate in the contest against the continent’s finest harness handicappers, including harnessracing.com’s Gordon Waterstone.

The winner of the NHHC receives the title National Harness Handicapping Champion, the $50,000 guaranteed first prize, tickets for two on Continental Airlines to anywhere in the continental United States; a guest appearance on Fox Sports Net’s Racing from the Meadowlands and his or her handicapping picks published in the Meadowlands program on major stakes days.

Racetracks and wagering outlets across North America held NHHC qualifiers, with their winners and runner-ups receiving their entry fees, bankrolls and travel paid for by the host establishment.

The NHHC will pay out prize money to the top 10 finishers. Contestants must bet 10 races: three mandatory races, selected by the NHHC panel, from The Meadows, Northfield and Balmoral, plus, the player’s choice of seven Meadowlands live races. Contest wagers are win, place or a combination of the two; one horse per race. Contestants must meet a minimum of $40 per race; $100 maximum.

In addition to the Meadowlands, wagering outlets that hosted 2006 NHHC qualifiers were: Americatab.com, Bally’s Las Vegas, Balmoral, Bangor Raceway, Buffalo Raceway, Capital-OTB, Colonial Downs, Freehold, John Martin’s Manor, Maywood, Mohegan Sun, The Meadows, Western Fair Raceway, Western OTB/Batavia, Xpressbet.com and Youbet.com.
