Woodbine Entertainment Group has announced that Steven Stamkos--expected to go first overall in the 2008 NHL entry draft next month--will be the official "drawmaster" for this year's 25th edition of the $1.5 million(C) Pepsi North America Cup at Mohawk.
The native of Unionville, Ont., was also the first overall pick in the 2006 Ontario Hockey League entry draft by the Sarnia Sting. In two seasons with the Sting, he has racked up 100 goals and almost 200 total points. Stamkos will assist in determining the post positions for the Pepsi North America Cup and speak briefly of his experiences in the sport at the noon-time press conference on Tuesday, June 10. Joining him will be Charlie Leerhsen, the executive editor at Sports Illustrated who has authored "Crazy Good: The Story of Dan Patch." Leerhsen will be on hand to talk about the book and sign copies for those in attendance. (WEG)
