Nine top trotters will wage war at Pompano Park on Monday in the seventh annual $54,800 Mack Lobell Trotting Series final, with Yvette Prudenzano and Basil Kellis’ Indian Hill Rocket looking to complete a series sweep.

Trained by Linda Wallis, Indian Hill Rocket has been at his very best in 2008, prevailing in five of seven starts, including a victory in a $17,500 opening leg division of the Mack Lobell Series on Feb. 18 in addition to a triumph in last week’s $25,000 second leg, where the gelding trotted a lifetime best mile in 1:54.3.

Installed as the 3-1 second-choice in the Mack Lobell final, Indian Hill Rocket will start from post three with Kevin Wallis at the lines.

The 5-year-old trotting mare Buck I St. Pat will challenge Indian Hill Rocket from post nine in the Mack Lobell final for the ownership of Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold, Abraham Basen, and Ron Fuller, and trainer Mickey Burke.

Buck I St. Pat finished second in the $20,000 Mack Lobell Preview when making her seasonal debut on Feb. 11, before returning with a powerful triumph in a first-leg division of the series on Feb. 18, stopping the timer in 1:54.4 while defeating her rivals by 3 ½ lengths. The daughter of Jailhouse Jesse did not compete in the second leg of the series.

A winner of over $600,000 during her career, Buck I St. Pat is listed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the Mack Lobell final and will be driven by Dave Palone.

Rompaway Wally, who defeated Buck I St. Pat in the Mack Lobell Preview, will start from post five in the final for driver-trainer Don Harmon, while Dunkster, a winner of 77 races throughout his extensive career, will challenge the top three from post seven with Bill O’Donnell at the lines for conditioner Fred Grant.

The $54,800 Mack Lobell Trotting Series final will be contested as the sixth race on the 12-race Monday program from Pompano Park. Superfecta wagering has been added to the betting menu for the race, which will also serve as the second-leg of the pick four. (Pompano Park)
