A group of 58 New Jersey-bred two-year-olds, 34 trotters and 24 pacers, make their pari-mutuel debut this week to become New Jersey Sire Stakes Premier Division Champions for 2010 at The Meadowlands.

There will be two divisions each of the trotting fillies and trotting colts and geldings on Thursday (June 24) and two divisions of pacing colts and one division of pacing fillies on Friday (June 25). Total purses for the seven Premier Division races in the first of two legs of the series will be $221,000.

The freshman colt pacers include Its Rock N Roll, sired by Rocknroll Hanover, a qualifying race winner in 1:55.4 at The Meadowlands, and another Rocknroll Hanover-sired colt, Gram’s Legacy, winner of a qualifier in 1:56.3, also at The Meadowlands.  The pacing fillies include Capri Hanover, by Western Ideal, who won a Meadowlands qualifier in 1:57.4.

The pacers include nine by Rocknroll Hanover, six by Cam’s Card Shark, four by Red River Hanover and three by Western Ideal.  Among the trotters are 10 by Yankee Glide, seven by Muscles Yankee, five each by Chocolatier, Classic Photo and Windsong’s Legacy and two by Revenue S.

The second leg of the series for trotters is scheduled for July 7 and 8. The pacers will compete again July 9 and 10.  The $200,000 NJSS Championship finals for each of the four divisions are slated for July 17. (NJSS)
