The Anthony Abbatiello New Jersey Classic Eliminations brought fast last quarters to the Meadowlands racetrack Saturday, May 24. Daley Deposit Only, from post seven, got parked to the quarter leaving for the front but made it there by the half and held on to win by a nose. Nearly the entire race closed in :26.4 or better but no one could quite edge out the Artiscape colt. Eventual second place finisher Mr Nice Guy (Ron Pierce) got the pocket trip until the three-quarter pole, but came back to get up for place. Meant To Be Me (John Campbell), parked throughout the race, came on to be third. Daley Deposit Only is owned by Ann-Mari Daley, Jared Daley, Richard Lombardo and Robert Pergament. The Classic was his first race of the year after being qualified at Robert Messick of The $500,000 New Jersey Classic Final will be held Saturday, May 31, along with it’s filly division, the $200,000 Miss New Jersey.
