Lunar Dream OM and Fancy Vacation posted victories in the second round of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands, with Lunar Dream OM scoring by 1:55.3 and Fancy Vacation using a stretch rally to tally in 1:55.4. The colts were set to square off on Thursday night.
The New Jersey Sire Stakes program will crown all of its 3-year-old pacing and trotting champions at the Meadowlands on one night, Friday, June 20, with purses totaling $700,000.
In the first division, race three, Fancy Vacation [$5.40, $3.60, $2.80] edged away to a 1 ˝-length tally over Chez Belle [$17.40, $6.40]. Winbak Brat [$4.40] faded to third after cutting the mile. Ron Pierce steered Fancy Vacation to her first career win. Annette Lorentzon trains the daughter of Dream Vacation for the ACL Stuteri of Paris, Kentucky. Lunar Dream OM [$5.00, $2.40, $2.10] put on a game first-over performance to take the second division, race five. Driven by Cat Manzi, Lunar Dream OM wore down Love So Right [$3.00, $3.20] in the final strides to post a neck victory. Share The Promise [$3.00], who drafted behind the winner, closed for third. Lunar Dream OM, trained by Jimmy Takter, picked up her third career win. Moni Market Racing of Enfield, CT owns the daughter of Muscles Yankee. (Meadowlands)
