St Pete Star won the New Jersey Sire Stakes for three-year-old colts Saturday afternoon at Freehold in 1:52.3. The $50,800 race was the third leg of the NJSS. After a :26.2 first quarter, Daniel Dube pulled St Pete Star going to the half, flushing out Idealic Life (Stephane Bouchard). St Pete Star, trained by Mark Kesmodel, won by two lengths. Idealic Life hung on for second and Ghee’s House (Ron Pierce) came three wide around the last turn to finish third. Jeffrey Bamond owns St Pete Star who now has 27 starts on the year. With a new lifetime mark under his belt, St Pete Star has seven wins in 33 lifetime starts and over $170,000 in earnings. He now has two wins in a row, coming off a win in the $55,285 NJ Futurity on September 29th.
