Nob Hill High, Vintage Master win Matron elims

39-1 Nob Hill High and Vintage Master won $39,082 Matron eliminations and pacers Delmarvalous, Mcmurray Hanover, Enee Weenie And Me along with trotters Nitro Commando and Super Delegate won Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old $20,000 Colt preliminaries on Sunday (Nov. 22) at Dover Downs.
 
Nob Hill High moved off the rail halfway down the stretch to come on strongly for a 1:50.3 half-length victory in the first of two $39,082 Matron elims. Hall of Famer John Campbell drove the McArdle-Anniecrombie embryo transfer colt to his fastest lifetime clocking for Buckeye state breeders and owners Bob Mondillo and Don Robertson.

Schoolkids with Tim Tetrick took the lead from Mr. Wiggles and Corey Callahan after a sizzling 25.4 opening quarter. The front pair continued through a 53.4 half and 1:22 three-quarters with David Miller-driven Clear Vision rolling up on the outside. The front trio battled down the lane with Campbell able to get off the rail and come on for Nob Hill High's sixth win of the season.

Daniel Dube put Vintage Master into high gear reaching the final turn and the Western Ideal-Art's Vintage homebred took over heading for home to score a 1:50.4 victory in the second $39,082 elim, catching front-pacing Straight Shooting and George Brennan. Entrymate Ideal Race and Dave Palone finished third in front of Hypnotic Blue Chip handled by John Campbell.

Hypnotic Blue Chip make the eight-colt $259,486 Matron final. All finalists must drop in to race on Monday morning, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. to race.

Delmarvalous left quickly to take the lead and then set the pace in a 1:54.1 triumph in the first $20,000 DSBF prelim. Corey Callahan never looked back as the son of Badlands Hanover-Prymetyme Scootie recorded his sixth win in nine lifetime starts earning $125,880 for owners Howard Dorfman, George Teague Jr., Elmer Fannin and Badlands Racing. Amazing Quest was second for Brad Hanners. Here Comes Brandon came on for Vince Copeland for third.

JoAnn King's homebred Enee Weenie And Me came from well off the pace to catch front-pacing, but tiring, Golden Gladiator and Bart Dalious, in deep stretch for a 1:54.1 victory, his third of the season. Lou's Bad Yankee, driven by Jim Morand, took show position.

Jim Morand drove Mcmurray Hanover to his fifth win of the year stepping off a 1:54.3 victory in the first prelim. Eddie Dennis trains the Badlands Hanover-Mud Hen gelding for Stephanie and Brian Cassell. Scout Hanover closed for Ben Stafford to take second. Twincreeks Indy and Kim Vincent collected show money.

In one of the DSBF trotting divisions, owner-driver Rod Allen and Nitro Commando held off Eric B Brief with Vic Kirby by three-quarters of a length in a 1:59 mile. Par Done My Putt, in his first start since winning the Harrington DSBF $100,000 final was third with Windy Donaway in the bike.

Super Delegate made his first lifetime start a winning one as Eddie Moore guided the Political Briefing-Excitement gelding, owned by John and Pat Moore, to victory in 2:03.1. YMI Special and Les Givens finished third but were placed second when Peepin Tom, piloted by Ron Hill, was set back to third for interference in the stretch.

DSBF $20,000 prelims advance to its 2nd leg next weekend; Saturday for filly trotters and pacers and Sunday for colts. (Dover)
