No boys for P Glide

Passionate Glide earned her 10th win of the year in as many starts on Sept. 29 with a nearly eight-length win in her division of the Bluegrass at The Red Mile. Next, the 3-year-old trotting filly will try for victories 11 and 12 in Saturday’s $300,000 Kentucky Filly Futurity. The race is contested in heats.

Although there was some temptation to start Passionate Glide in Saturday’s $600,000 Kentucky Futurity against the boys, trainer Jimmy Takter decided against the move.

"It would be interesting, but I don’t want to push it," Takter said. "She’s been racing really good, nice and sound. She’s in great shape. She looks like much the best right now."

Passionate Glide was the sport’s top 2-year-old female trotter in 2005 and has won 11 consecutive races dating to last season’s Breeders Crown final. Lifetime, she’s won 15 of 21 starts and earned $1.5 million. She’s finished worse than second only once. She still has this year’s Breeders Crown on her schedule, and, possibly, the American-National.

"Going undefeated would be nice to do," Takter said. "I think it’s a great possibility. All great horses get beat once in a while, but she may be able to do it." (HRC)
