Noel Daley now training Major In Art

The 2008 Two-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year Major In Art is now being trained by Noel Daley, according to a report by Woodbine announcer Ken Middleton. Justin Lebo, the son of Chester Lebo, who co-owns the son of Art Major as part of the Major In Art Stable with Jerry Silva and Tina Martinez, was unsure of whether he wanted to continue to train horses, so the decision was made to transfer the horse to Daley’s barn in preparation for his sophomore campaign.

Besides training a small stable in Pennsylvania, Justin Lebo, 27, has a full-time job in commercial construction. Last year, he trained his horses around four o’clock in the afternoon after work.

“We all agreed that this is the World Series time and you don't get many chances to have a horse like this, so it's in the best interest of the horse that we decided to go with Noel,” Martinez told Middleton.

Major In Art was sent to Daley at the Sunshine Meadows Training Center in Florida on Valentine’s Day. Expectations are that the colt will not qualify until early May, with the stakes compass pointed toward the North America Cup and Meadowlands Pace. Last year, Major In Art became just the third horse to win both the Woodrow Wilson and Metro Pace, joining A Stud Named Sue (1995) and Grinfromeartoear (1998). Overall, he won six of 10 starts and had earnings of $849,154 as a freshman.
