Lucky NZ won the $35,000 Preferred Pace in another longshot-filled card over an off track on Monday at Dover Downs that also saw the 31-1 Klondike Kid win the $32,500 Delaware Special. Eric Goodell racked up four driving wins, Ron Pierce had three, while meet-leading trainer Josh Green haltered three winners.

Summersby Stable's Lucky NZ made his first local appearance a winning one getting up for Pierce in 1:51.4 to win the Preferred, the week's top race. It was the New Zealand-bred son of Falcon Seelster's first start since mid December. Prince Of Luck closed along the inside for Brandon Givens to finish second, beaten only a nose. Dream Rocket and Tony Morgan raced overland from mid backstretch and finished third.

Klondike Kid pulled Goodell to his third of four wins coming on after a two-hole trip to notch a 1:53.1 win. Owned by Fred Hertrich, Brooks Stables and Green Racing, it was the second win in a row for the Admirals Galley gray horse. Going off at 31-t, Klondike Kid had been a favorite in his previous four starts. Thin Blue Line cut the mile for Ross Wolfenden to finish second. Mr. Apples, third, never left the rail for Jim Morand moving from seventh at the top of the lane to within a length of the winner at the wire.

Recently acquired by WJ MCDougall Inc., Richard Henry N, with Wolfenden in the bike, scored a 7-1 victory in 1:52.2 to take the $27,000 Open Pace. Fox Valley Armor, handled by Yannick Gingras, was second with Qualify Western and Brian Sears third.

Eric Ells' biggest of three consecutive trainer winners was White Hot Cards. It also was the second of consecutive wins for owners Steve Iaquinta and Bill Dittmar in one of four $20,000 winners-over paces. The Cam's Card Shark 5 year old, overlooked at 32-1 gave Kevin Sizer his second longshot winner in two nights, cutting out a 1:52 mile. Bobnoxious with Tim Curtin, a 25-1 shot, finished second in front of 15-1 Elm Grove Same and Pierce. The $2 exacta paid $478.20 and the trifecta $4,482.60.

Fred and Anita Fialkow's Sand Sax, piloted by Pierce, overtook front-pacing Wardog Hall with Tim Tetrick to score a 1:53.2 win in a third $20,000 winners-over pace. The Firecam with Morand was third.

What A View, owned by Donick Stables and trainer Wayne Givens, scooted home a 12-1 winner in another $20,000 winners-over, chalking up a 1:52.3 victory. Whistle Beat and Tim Tetrick closed with a rush along the passing lane to take second. Next Flight was the third-place finisher.

Morgan drove his second winner taking the final $20,000 winners-over as Bill Emmons' JK Jack held off a fast closing Black Cat Bone and Pierce in 1:54. Victor Vuitton N and Tetrick were in the win photo but had to settle for third. (Dover Downs)
