March 28, 2005 Send To A Friend  | Print View

The pacing Triple Crown will be returning to the state of Delaware once again as Harrington Raceway will again host the Messenger Stakes on Monday, October 17. The race was originally scheduled to be run at Yonkers Raceway, but due to pending construction a change in venue was necessary. No announcement has been made on other Yonkers events such as the Yonkers Trot.

Raced last year as the middle jewel of the pacing Triple Crown, this year The Messenger will revert to its usual position along the Triple Crown trail, as the third and final leg, and will follow the Cane Pace, which will be raced at Freehold Raceway, and the Little Brown Jug, raced at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fair.

The Lady Maud Pace ($150,000 est.) for 3-year-old pacing fillies is the sister race to the Messenger Stakes and will also be contested at Harrington.
