No Nonsense Yankee rebounded from a disappointing seventh-place performance in the $267,000 Isle of Capri Pacing Series final, prevailing in the featured $10,000 winners-over pace at Pompano Park on Saturday in 1:51.2.

Driven from post six by Wally Hennessey, No Nonsense Yankee was parked in fourth place through an opening quarter mile in :27.1 before charging to the front and taking control of the race through middle fractions of :56 and 1:23.2.

The son of Jenna’s Beach Boy entered the stretch with a one-length advantage, and was game down the lane to hold off the late charge of Sahara Hall (Anthony Napolitano), prevailing by a neck after covering the final panel in :28.

No Nonsense Yankee returned $5.20, $2.80, and $2.20 for the victory. Sahara Hall brought in $5.60 and $3.80 for second, while Green River Gorge (Rick Schaut) paid $3.40 for third.

Owned by Despina Powell and trainer Mike Deters, No Nonsense Yankee has prevailed in four of eight starts this year, including a lifetime-best mile of 1:50 when he took a second-leg division of the Isle of Capri Pacing Series on February 23.

The fastest mile of the evening was paced six races later when Hesadoozy ($8.60) prevailed in the ninth-race $8,200 winners-over pace, stopping the timer in a career-best 1:50.3 for Pilgrim Stable and trainer Gerald Greer.

Driven from post five by John Kakaley, Hesadoozy tracked Miracle Believer
(George Napolitano Jr.) from the pocket through fractions of :27.1, :55.1, and 1:22, before inheriting the lead when that rival broke stride in mid-stretch, sprinting clear
in the final yards for a 1 3/4-length triumph .

The 7-year-old gelded son of Nobleland Sam has visited the winner’s circle in each of his last two outings, and now boasts a lifetime bankroll in excess of $143,000. (Pompano Park)
