Two daughters of Muscles Yankee, No Pain No Gain and Fantasy Yankee, captured the first round of the New Jersey Sires Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.

No Pain No Gain drafted behind Gleams Dream, who carved fractions of :28.3, :57.3 and 1:27.1 heading into the stretch. Driver David Miller edged No Pain No Gain out in the lane and she easily passed the tiring leader for the victory in 1:56.1. Lunar Dream OM rushed up the pylons to finish three-quarters of a length behind. Fancy Vacation closed off a second-over trip to grab the show spot. No Pain No Gain paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.10 in the sixth race, the second of the two $30,000 divisions.

Jonas Czernyson trains White Creek Stable’s No Pain No Gain. The filly improved her record to five wins in 13 careers starts and boosted her bankroll to $185,000. At two, she won the Champlain Stakes at Mohawk and International Stallion Stakes at The Red Mile.

In the first NJSS division, race three, Fantasy Yankee surged past Smart Dream in the stretch for a two-length tally in 1:56.3. Nicole Kraft rallied quickest of all to finish third.

Fantasy Yankee, driven by John Campbell and trained by Peter Walsh, notched her third win in eight career starts. David McDuffee of Nashua, N.H. owns the filly. (Meadowlands)
