The New York State Racing and Wagering Board is ahead of the July 1, 2007 deadline issued by Governor Spitzer’s Executive Order #3 requiring all state agency’s and public authorities to broadcast public meetings via the internet. All future Board Meetings, starting on May 24, will be streamed over the Internet and accessible at: www.racing.state.ny.us “Along with providing more government transparency, this technology encourages more participation within the racing and gaming community,” said chairman Daniel D. Hogan. “It will also allow the public new access to the Board’s proceedings.” Pursuant to the Executive Order, all of the webcasts will be close-captioned and be accessible on the Board’s website site for a minimum of 30 days. Copies of each of the webcasts will also be kept for a minimum of four months. The streaming services selected will accommodate dial-up as well as broadband users and will support multiple software clients (i.e. Real Player, Windows Media Player, etc). The May 24 Board meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. (NYSRWB)
