NY Post breaks story

The Monday front page of the New York Post features breaking news about a state grand jury probing allegations of race fixing--and illegal substances in race horses, notably Epogen--at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway during the past summer.

The Post story says a 23-member grand jury panel was convened last week to hear evidence, which reportedly includes wiretapped conversations. Subpoenas have reportedly been issued to veterinarians, trainers and owners.

Snake venom was also mentioned as a doping agent that may have been used.

The Post story said Saratoga County District Attorney, James Murphy, declined to confirm or deny the grand jury proceeding.
