A full week of New York Sire Stakes action at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway got started on Tuesday when the 3-year-old pacing fillies took center stage on a rainy night. There were three divisions of the $83,000-plus purse stakes for the state’s top young ladies on the 14-race card.
The Stake Your Claim Stable’s Galimony (Artiscape) was the fastest winner of the stakes races as Jim Morrill Jr. put the Linda Toscano-trained filly on the engine at the start and they would cruise to victory at 1-5, stopping the timer in 1:55 over a track labeled sloppy.
Pat Lachance’s Hula’s Z Tam continued her remarkable career on Tuesday, winning for the tenth time in 13 races as she outclosed the field for a 1:56.2 win, also released at odds of 1-5. The Bettor’s Delight filly has yet to finish worse than second in her young career en route to more than $445,000 in lifetime earnings.
Morrill also piloted the third and final stakes winner on the night as Max’s Leading Lady cruised to a wire-to-wire win in 1:56.1. The victory was the second straight for the Art Major filly who is trained by Robert Horowitz.
