The New York Sire Stakes ladies make their second seasonal visit to Yonkers Raceway Monday night, this time the 3-year-old trotters with the $293,566 Mike Cipriani, named for Yonkers' long-time, award-winning photographer, with all but the third division worth $58,933 each (that division is worth $57,833)
Monday night's first Sire Stakes division finds Cocktail Hour (Ivan Davies, post two) going for a fouth consecutive victory. The daughter of Credit Winner, trained by Davies for owner Doug Hutchins, won at Rockingham (career-best 1:57) after NYSS victories at Buffalo and Saratoga.
Julieannie (Ray Schnittker, post four) has earned more than $72,000 this season without getting her picture taken. This Credit Winner miss, co-owned by trainer Schniitker, Tom Vassiliou and Nick Tallarico, has been a bridesmaid in her last five efforts. The evening's second NYSS grouping had Conway Maid (John Stark Jr., post one) looking to add to her $75,000 seasonal stash. Stark also trains the Conway Hall ma'am, who has won half of her dozen '07 tries. Tessel (Bill Bailey, post three), last season's frosh divisional champ, hasn't done much of anything since the calendar turned...nothing to show for a pair of purse tries. The third NYSS event has Ada Girl (Scnittker, post two) closing in on six figures in career earnings, while Credibility (Dude Goodblood, post six) has four seconds to show for eight '07 starts. The fourth Cipriani event attracted Oh Oh It's Magic (Jim Morrill Jr., post five) with a five-for-six '07 resume. The Credit Winner miss, trained by Carl Gillespie for owner Carolyn Athetton, is four for four in state-bred company this season, winning the $180,625 final of the Empire Classic at Tioga and NYSS avents at Saratoga and Buffalo. Chippewa Street (Schnittker, post four) has hit the board in all but one of her eight '07 work days/nights. The final NYSS event includes DW's Judy (Dan Daley, post one), fresh off a handy NYSS win at Goshen this past Sunday. (Yonkers)
