NY VLT legislation stalls

Legislation introduced in New York to increase the racetrack's percentage of revenue from video lottery terminals, went nowhere as some horsemen's groups protested the deletion of a provision in state law to guarantee a certain percentage of VLT revenues to go to purses and breeders.



Presently, 29 percent of VLT revenue goes to the racing industry, and one of the bills introduced this week calls for that number to rise to 32 percent on the first $50 million in VLT revenues, 29 percent on the next $100 million and 26 percent after that.
