After falling 5 1/2 lengths behind, Oatmeister unleashed his patented late charge that carried him to a narrow victory in the $25,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Thursday at The Meadows. Prism K was strong on the lead but under constant pressure, giving Oatmeister the opening he needed. Trainer-driver Ed Hensley tipped him off the pylons at the half for a sustained bid that was just good enough. He edged the game Prism K by a nose in 1:54.1, with Primo Spur third. It was one of four winning drives on the 16-race card for Hensley. Bill Bercury owns Oatmeister, a 7-year-old gelded son of Conway Hall-Orelle Hanover who pushed his career bankroll to $391,220.
